The first film screened was Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s The Third Generation (Die Dritte Generation), a film written, directed and produced by Fassbinder in 1979 in West Germany. The film is a dark reflection on terrorism, televisual media and the reconfiguration of beliefs and actions of a generation raised on the background of real and symbolic violence, through division and conflict, both in the aftermath of the Holocaust and the East/West separation of Germany. The screening wasintroduced by Vlad Morariu (Loughborough Univerisity) and Mihaela Brebenel (Goldsmiths), and followed by an open discussion.
